This Privacy Policy describes how Beacon Light Investments (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information in connection with Crate Clash (the “Service”). “You” means anyone who visits, listens to, or plays Crate Clash, whether or not you create an account.
Crate Clash is built around one rule: you can listen to an entire round without an account on any platform. Round pages, standings, and playback are public. An account is only needed to submit a track, vote, or otherwise participate as a player. This Policy reflects that — we collect the minimum needed to run the league, and nothing more.
Information we collect
Account information. To play, you sign in with your email address. We send a one-time login code to that address — we never ask for or store a password. Once signed in, you choose a display name, which is shown publicly next to your submissions, votes, and results after voting for a round has closed. You may also set a light/dark theme preference.
Submissions and votes. When you submit a track to a round, we store the YouTube link you provide and any information we resolve from it (title, channel, duration) to display the entry. When you vote, we store your ballot. During an active voting window, ballots and running point totals are never linked to your identity in anything the Service serves — that anonymity is a structural guarantee of how rounds work, not just a policy promise. Once a round closes, results are shown by display name.
Technical information. Like most websites, we automatically log standard request data — IP address, browser/device type, and timestamps — for signed-in sessions, primarily to keep accounts secure and to prevent abuse of login and voting.
Cookies. We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and a small cookie to remember your light/dark theme choice. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use information
- To send you a login code and let you sign in without a password;
- To operate rounds, submissions, voting, and standings;
- To keep voting anonymous while a round is open;
- To secure accounts and prevent fraud or abuse (for example, rate-limiting repeated login or voting attempts); and
- To respond to you if you contact us.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of service providers to run Crate Clash, and only share what each needs to do its job:
- Email delivery — your email address is passed to our transactional email provider solely to deliver login codes.
- YouTube (Google) — submitted tracks are played back via embedded YouTube video. Playing a track loads content from YouTube, and your interaction with that embedded player is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy, not this one.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Crate Clash, our players, or others.
Data retention
We keep account and league data — submissions, votes, and results — for as long as your account exists, since past seasons remain part of the public standings history. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your email address and any information that could re-identify you, though historical round results tied to your display name may remain visible as part of the completed record, consistent with how results have always been shown once a round closes.
Security
We use reasonable technical safeguards to protect your information, including that we never store a password to steal in the first place — sign-in is by one-time email code only. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Children
Crate Clash is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can update your display name and theme preference at any time from your account page. To access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, contact us at the address below.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the update.
